First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Internet Brands.
Intern
I applied online through the Internet Brands website, sending in my resume and cover letter. Then, I got a call from HR that lasted about 12 minutes. They asked me what I knew about Internet Brands, about my past jobs, and my salary expectations. After that, I got an assignment with two questions that required creating Excel formulas. I sent it back, but I got one question wrong initially because it was confusing. HR clarified it, and I was able to fix the first question and resubmit. They liked my answers and scheduled an interview for the next day. The interview was at their office, where I arrived early. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed. I waited a bit before meeting with an HR lady who had sent me the invitation. She offered me water, and we went into a meeting room. She interviewed me, and a trainee was also present. Many of the questions were similar to the phone interview. After she finished, she mentioned that the department manager would be coming to interview me shortly. I waited again until the manager arrived. She was nice and asked standard questions, seeming interested in my responses. She gave me her business card and said she'd get back to me by the middle of the following week. I waited a week and followed up via email, and then on Monday, HR let me know I didn't get the job.
- Be very meticulous when answering the initial case study.
- Pay close attention to the question, as they may be a bit confusing.
Intern
The interview process is tough. It starts with a phone call, then an in-person meeting. Sometimes candidates have to come back multiple times, like 2, 3, or even 4 times. For this internship, I had two interviews plus a homework assignment. They really make you work for it, and the CEO might reject you for a minor reason. They aim for the best but their intense process and lack of trust can drive away top talent.
- Were there any unique questions asked?
- Were there a lot of questions asked?
- How long did the interviews take in total?
Intern
I sent in my application online. An HR person rang me up for a quick chat to see if I was a good fit, and I had to do a basic Excel skills test. Then I met with two people who would be my managers for an in-person interview. They were all really nice and seemed experienced with the hiring process. After that, there was a background check before they made me an offer.
