Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at International Paper.
Supply Chain Intern
Had two interviews. The first was at a career fair, and if they liked me, I got invited to the next stage. That second round involved answering several questions from a group of current employees.
- Can you share an experience where you were in charge of a team?
Supply Planner
I interviewed during the recession. It required multiple interviews. They treated me very fairly and the interviews were relaxed and professional. There were no trick questions; they just wanted to make sure I was a good fit for the company. The initial interview was secured through a referral from a family friend who had worked there for many years.
- Considering your background, what makes you want to work for this company?
Supply Planner
The interview process was fantastic. They flew a group of college grads out for what they call an interview blitz. The night before the blitz, we had a dinner event with many of the interviewers, which really cut the stress level for all the applicants. The next day consisted of over 5 interviews crammed into the same day. It was taxing but rewarding. Everyone was considerate, relaxed, and easy going.
- Tell me about a time you failed.
