Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at International Paper.
Process Engineer
Round 1 consisted of a recruiter discussion after meeting at a career fair. It was a behavioral interview, with mostly "tell me a time" questions to assess past experiences and teamwork skills.
- Tell me about a time when you had to collaborate with someone you had a disagreement with.
Manufacturing Engineer
I had a virtual interview over teams. They asked a lot of 'think of a time when' questions. They also wanted to know about my experience and skills. I got to ask questions at the end too.
- Can you share an instance where you dealt with internal conflict and describe your resolution approach?
Manufacturing Engineer
Found them at the Career Fair at my university. They held on-campus interviews the following day. Very fair questions. They wrote as I talked looking for problem, steps, and result of your direct action. This position is great for someone who has worked around heavy machinery. I was offered to continue the interview process but declined based on location.
- Can you share an instance where a project encountered an issue, and describe how you resolved it?
- What is your experience working in a diverse environment?
- Tell me about a personal goal outside of academics that you have achieved or plan to achieve.
