First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at International Paper.
Intern
I first met with International Paper at my school's career fair and discussed with them about their company and internship opportunities. They then reached out asking to do an internship with me over a zoom meeting. They asked me certain questions about myself and provided me different scenarios in which I needed to explain how I would react and respond in that situation. The internship lasted about 45 minutes, and within a month or two, they got back to me with an internship offer.
- Can you share an instance where you had a disagreement with someone? What steps did you take to resolve it, and what was the final outcome?
Estagiário
The online stages went smoothly with a few tests. I was called for an in-person interview in Paulínia for an IT internship. After two weeks of anxious waiting, one day before the scheduled date, an HR employee called to say the position was canceled by management and would only reopen next year. This shows a lack of planning and commitment from the internship program organizers. It's frustrating for those looking to advance their careers, and I hope this was an isolated incident.

Intern
The first interview was on campus back in October. It was mainly general get-to-know-you questions, nothing super technical, mostly "Tell me about a time" stuff. About a week and a half later, I got an email for a second interview in Memphis. I flew in on a Thursday in November. On Friday, I had four separate interviews with different IT managers. They asked the same "tell me a time" questions as the first interview, plus a few more that were slightly technical, more like asking if I had experience with certain things. After the interviews, we toured Memphis, had dinner, and I flew out Saturday morning.
- Can you share an instance where you recognized a necessary course of action but couldn't get others to listen, and what was the outcome?
- Describe a situation where you faced adversity.
- Tell me about a challenge you encountered and how you handled it.
