Project Manager
It was a standard process. There were multiple one on one interviews with different team members I would be working with. Each interview was about 45 minutes to an hour. They asked the usual questions like describing past projects, why I'm interested in this role, and if I understand what Intermedia does.
- Why are you interested in this role?
- Can you describe your experience with handling ambiguity?
- Tell us about some projects you have worked on.
Project Manager
My interview experience was terrible. It started with an email from HR after I sent my CV and cover letter. She asked for my preferred call day but never confirmed a time. Then, she called me outside of work hours for a primary interview, asking basic questions that were already in my cover letter. She couldn't answer my questions about the company's product or technical aspects. I mentioned my limited IT project management experience but strong other qualifications. I requested to speak with an employee to learn more about the culture and role. I was then invited to the office for another interview with no details provided. At the office, HR explained the process: a 20-min generic interview with her, a 20-min written logic test, and a written case study, followed by a peer interview with two company employees. The first part involved describing past projects, and I realized the HR person hadn't read my cover letter. She didn't even know what a cover letter was when I asked. Then, she gave me the written test and left. It had multiple-choice logic questions. The case task seemed manageable, but it was my first time doing such a thing, and I felt it didn't go well. The HR person returned, took my papers, and I waited for the employees. Two employees, a man and a woman, came in with my cover letter and test papers. Without introductions, they told me I failed the written test and wanted to 'do it again to see why you don't get it.' The man had me explain my reasoning for the logic questions. Then, they had me do the case study, explaining my thought process. The woman kept making comments like 'I can't take it anymore, I will start smoking from these answers.' The interview went way beyond my capabilities and expectations. I tried to leave, but they insisted on continuing for another 40 minutes. They commented on sentences from my cover letter and suggested I shouldn't work in IT but try the startup scene. My interview experience is from the EU. I've had interviews where my skills didn't match, and I've failed case interviews before, but I've never been so humiliated. The interview was disrespectful and hostile. I hope Intermedia's Russian office improves its interview staff.
- What are the downsides of a project that is completed on schedule?
- Given: Tanya is older than Eric. Cliff is older than Tanya. Eric is older than Cliff. If the first two statements are true, then the third statement is A. true B. false C. uncertain
- Could you tell me about your past projects?
Project Manager
Completely disappointed with the interview process. I was rejected right at the interview because, as HR said, I was too old for the position (I am 25!). She also said that neither she nor a Product manager checked out my preliminary task which I submitted 3 days before the interview. So what was the rejection based on? P.S. the interview was recorded on HR phone though I didn’t give my permission to do so, I noticed it only in the end.
- Can you elaborate on your past work experience?
- Describe a time when you demonstrated leadership abilities.
