First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Intergen.
Consultant
I applied online in April, and then in June and July, I did an online test. After that, there was an assessment day where there were maybe hundreds of people, and we were split into groups to discuss and present based on two cases. The final step was a face-to-face interview, which had two one-hour parts: behavioral and technical. They gave me a challenge to design a system, and during the technical interview, I had to present it to 'customers' and answer their questions. There were also some standard technical and behavioral questions. In total, there were four interviewers, two for each part.
- Can you explain agile project management?
- Could you describe your past projects?
- What are your reasons for wanting to join Intergen?
Graduate Program
First, you do a video interview. If you pass that, you're invited to a candidate night where you work together on a business case and then present it. The staff are really nice. If you're successful after that, you go to a final interview with senior staff. They're also really nice and make you feel relaxed. I was told I didn't get the job because there had been a 'change in customer needs', which felt pretty rude since I had to travel there twice. Still, it was a good learning experience.
- Standard behavioral questions were asked.
- The final interview felt like a casual chat.
Graduate Consultant
Applied online, then had a one-way video interview, which is like a phone interview but you record yourself answering questions with limited time and takes. It was good because I could prepare. After that, I was invited for an interview with 4 senior people (2 technical, 2 behavioural). They were really nice and welcoming. Then I got a tour of their office with a grad developer from last year. They called me a few days later with an offer.
- Can you describe an instance where you provided customer service?
- What is a recent technology that has captured your interest?
Software Engineer
So, there were three interviews in total. The first two were with HR and team managers, focusing on personality, my goals, and past experience. Then, I had a technical interview with the team managers. All of this was done over the phone and Skype. For the technical part, they used HackerRank for coding exercises and multiple-choice questions.
- Can you tell me about your goals and experience?
- Could you please create a simple text editor class using C#?
