Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Intercontinental Exchange.
Intern
There were two interview rounds. It was pretty chill because they mainly wanted to get to know me, understand my motivations for wanting to work there, and inquire about my university degree. They also checked my English skills.
- What are your reasons for wanting to join this company?
Intern
First, I did an assessment. Then, there was a phone screen. The recruiter was supposed to call me on the day, but didn't. I had to follow up a lot to get the call. About two weeks later, I had the first interview round. He mentioned there would be two more rounds and that he'd email me about scheduling. After that, it went quiet again for about a month, despite many emails and calls. Finally, I got an email stating I wasn't selected and that someone else should have informed me because he was on leave.
- Why did you choose to apply for this specific role?
Intern
I found the ad in my college and replied to it. First, I had a phone call with a Lead Engineer from one of the teams. They asked me questions based on my resume and were particularly interested in a project I had that seemed relevant to their current work. After passing that, I was invited for an on-site interview. There, I met with the lead engineer, the team manager, and the technical director. I had three separate interviews with them, all focusing on my Java skills. They had me write code on a whiteboard for a few basic algorithmic and object-oriented programming problems. They got back to me about a week later.
- Could you design a directory object and provide a function to remove it along with all its contents, including files and other directories?
