The first interview was a recruiter call. It was supposed to be 30 minutes but went on for 50 minutes. The recruiter stuck to a script and couldn't answer some questions about the role because they were in a different region. This felt weird since I was told to review company materials beforehand, which mostly repeated what the recruiter said. The hiring manager was late and seemed rude. When I asked about company culture and mentioned online reviews, they basically confirmed the reviews were accurate without much extra info. The recruiter gave me inconsistent preparation materials and guidance on how to approach the interview, which made me more concerned about the culture and expectations. I decided to pull out of the process.

My interview experience with Intercom was really bad. My background was a good fit for the CSM role. The first interview was in October 2024. I went through four more rounds after that, which included a presentation, a skills assessment, and a three-hour roundtable that was scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving. After all that, I didn't hear anything back. I followed up a week later, but still no response. I waited another five days and followed up again. Finally, an HR rep responded and told me they weren't moving forward. She offered a feedback call, and I told her to call me anytime that week. I never got a call. It felt like a complete waste of my time, especially since I didn't even get any feedback.

The whole process was pretty quick, maybe 2 weeks because they needed someone fast. It started with a screening interview, then a take-home assignment where I had to record video responses and write out answers to some questions. After that, I interviewed with the hiring manager, and the final stage was a panel presentation followed by peer interviews. Everyone was really nice and helpful, and the recruiter even checked in before the last round to see if I felt ready.
