Customer Support Engineer
First, a recruiter called to give me some info about the job. Then, I had an assessment on Google Docs about my projects and experience, which also had some ruby troubleshooting questions. Next was a Customer Focus Interview to talk about my experience working with customers. The final stage was an interview with 4 parts that lasted 3 hours total. The technical assessment was 1 hour, and the other parts were 30 mins each. The technical assessment covered questions about the intercom api, setting up messenger, and descriptions of network layers and javascript methods. The teamwork part asked about how I interact with a team, if I take charge, and how I handle it. The prioritization part asked for examples of when I had to prioritize or work with limited resources, and how I order tasks. There was a 2nd Customer Focus interview asking for examples related to common customer experiences.

Customer Support Engineer
I found the job on LinkedIn and applied for the Customer Support Engineer role at Intercom. The whole experience from the first recruiter call to getting the offer was really positive. The recruiters were great – super supportive and nice the whole time. The interview process itself was pretty straightforward: a phone screen, then an assessment, followed by a hiring manager interview, and finally a virtual onsite which had five interviews. Everyone I spoke with at Intercom asked really good questions that I could answer well based on my background. They were also happy to answer my questions, giving me more insight into the company and the role. It was a genuinely pleasant process talking with the Intercom team. I liked how organized and clear it all was, and how welcoming and sweet everyone on the team seemed.

Customer Support Engineer
The interview process had three parts: a take-home test, two phone interviews (one technical), and then an in-person interview. I found the take-home part a bit tricky since I hadn't done that before. The recruiters at Intercom were super helpful and gave me great feedback which really got me ready for the phone and in-person interviews. It was a good hiring process overall, and I really appreciated the extra effort from the recruiter; I don't think I'd be here without it!
