It was a pretty straightforward interview process. Everyone I talked to was super nice and helpful. A recruiter reached out first with a few extra questions and then set up a first interview really fast. The first interview was on Microsoft Teams and was mostly about personality – how you deal with people – and a general overview of the job. Not long after, I had an in-person second interview. I met with three people, and it was more of a typical interview with questions about my strengths and weaknesses, how I manage lab issues, and other questions to check my experience and personality. It was a really relaxed experience, and it made me excited about the possibility of getting an offer.

The HR recruiter was responsive. Then I had an interview with the VP, which was pretty bad. They looked at my resume and ended the interview 15 minutes early. They asked about my reasons for switching roles and my interest in this specific position. It seemed like they already had someone in mind and I might have been a practice interview. The role wasn't something I'd be interested in anyway, and the company doesn't seem to be doing well, so I guess I got lucky.

So the whole process started with a recruiter call, then an HR interview which was super nice and they asked general questions. After that, there were two technical interviews. The first one was with an experienced developer, she was great. Then they invited me to their office in Princeton for an onsite interview. There were 5 people from the team, and they grilled me with questions for about an hour and a half. I think I did okay, and they said they'd get back to me in a week. But they never did. I followed up, and the recruiter didn't have info. Later, the recruiter called back with an offer for a 6-month internship at $30-40/hour. I told her I wasn't looking for an internship and that I could learn the system quickly, and if the rate could be $55, I'd be fine with that. They never called back after that. The people were nice, but the offer and the whole process were a mess. Wasted a lot of my time.
