I interviewed in September 2023 for a Software Engineer role in Manchester. The process started with a 30-minute phone call with the recruiter. Unfortunately, that was the only stage I reached. After the call, the recruiter didn't explicitly state that I wasn't selected for further rounds. My follow-up emails inquiring about the application status after one, two, and three weeks went unanswered. I'm still waiting for an official rejection email. My advice: after an interview, assume you failed and start looking at other companies.

I sent in my application and a recruiter reached out about a technical interview. It was scheduled for an hour but the person interviewing me had a strong accent that made it hard to understand. I had to ask her to repeat herself a few times, which seemed to make her upset. I remember she asked about a keyword for safe thread access to variables. I said 'Volatile', but she was only looking for 'Synchronized'. She also pronounced 'varchar' differently than I do. It felt like everything irritated her, and she ended the call abruptly after only 5 minutes, saying that it showed where I stood and that we couldn't move forward. So abrupt!

I had to create a Web application using asp.net. It involved writing unit tests, an API, and solving some simple algorithm problems. This was done remotely with two interviewers, and it felt more like pair programming than an actual test.
