Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.
Claims Adjuster
First, there was an initial chat with an HR person for about 30 mins. They went over the job posting and asked some basic questions about my experience and why I wanted to work at ICBC. They also told me what to expect next and had me do two assessments: one for typing and one for listening. After that, the real interview happened with two managers who asked behavioral questions and gave me a situation to see how I'd handle it.
- Can you share an instance where you resolved a conflict with a colleague?
- Describe your approach to managing challenging clients.
Claims Adjuster
So, the interview process for this Claims Adjuster role involved a skills-based test and then a face-to-face interview. The whole thing, the interview part, was about an hour to an hour and a half, and it was pretty much all behavioral questions. Before the interview, there was a test with four sections: English, Analytical & Critical Thinking, Personality, and Math. After I passed the interview, I got offered the job, and I'm supposed to start in about 4 weeks.
- Can you describe a situation where you delivered outstanding customer service?
- Could you share an instance where you had to refuse a customer's request?
- Please provide an example of a time you had to analyze a situation to make a decision. What happened, and what was the result?
Claims Adjuster
The hiring process was pretty standard, I was interviewed by two managers who were really full of themselves. It was followed by a written component which was actually dumb. I have been interviewed by other companies, but this was the worst one so far.
- How would you deal with an unhappy client
