Senior Scientist
The interview process was very professional and the team was excellent. It involved three main stages: first a recruiter call, then a call with the hiring manager, and finally an on-site interview. The on-site day was quite extensive, featuring five 30-minute interviews, a 60-minute presentation with a Q&A session, and a visit to the animal facility. I was really impressed with the company culture, and the location and campus were outstanding.
- Could you elaborate on specific procedures and explain them in detail?
- How would you approach handling our typical daily workflows?
- Can you discuss your genuine suitability in terms of your skills?

Even though it was the holiday season, the interview process went pretty quickly. I applied on Monday, and by Wednesday, the recruiter reached out. The first interview happened the following week. After that, the hiring manager told me he wanted me to interview with the team after the holidays. Once the break was over, we had a group interview, and I got an offer the week after that. The background check took a bit longer than expected, mainly because some companies were no longer in business, but if it weren't for the holidays, I think the whole thing would have taken about a month.
- Can you tell me about how your values align with the team's values?
Senior Scientist
It was a really tough interview process, took about five months from applying to the final onsite. It had four main parts: a recruiter chat, then the hiring manager, then a panel interview, and finally the onsite. There was also a 30-minute presentation involved. The scientific team was mostly men, 10 out of 11. Most of them were great to talk to, but the conversation with the site lead/VP was pretty weird and not great. I normally expect founders or senior folks to talk about bigger stuff, like the company's main technology or what competitors are up to in certain areas. But he just kept asking me really basic or unfocused technical questions, like about factors affecting a CQA, or asking what drug I'd want to engineer right now, which felt odd for a protein engineering role. He also threw in some standard HR/behavioral stuff, like how I introduce myself socially or what my career goals are. Even though I didn't think that chat was the best use of time, he asked me to come back to his office afterward. I declined, especially since they then added an unexpected 40-minute interview right after. Four days later, HR told me they were looking for someone with more 'technical expertise.' Oh well.
- Can you explain the difference between antigenicity and immunogenicity?
- Can you name all the upstream factors that might affect a particular CQA?
- If you could choose, what drug would you aim to develop right now?
