First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Insider One.
Sales Development Representative
The interviewers were super friendly. First, there was a recruiter call to check for fit. Then, an onsite interview at the office to check for fit with the team. After that, a case study about prospection. Finally, a cold calling simulation. There were 6 rounds in total. I got plenty of insights and feedback throughout the process and felt very well considered.
- How do you handle failure?
Sales Development Representative
The interview process began with two calls with an external recruiter who was really helpful. Next, I had to complete a homework-like exercise. After that, I had a call with the SDR manager where I did a mock cold call, which went well. Then, I spoke with the head of sales for EMEA and did another mock cold call, which was quick but friendly. The last stage was with the chief revenue officer. This interview was really bad; he was rude and misogynistic, which was surprising given the company has a female CEO. He spoke down to me and made comments about my partner's nationality, even though I mentioned I could speak their language. He tried to make me uncomfortable and said that Insider isn't a place for work-life balance, which he seemed to brag about, with HR just sitting there silently. He also tried to get me to bad-mouth my old company and wrongly claimed I was the only one made redundant, despite me telling him the whole SDR role was. It was the worst interview I've ever had. Even though the process was long, I was still interested until this last interview. Seeing how the c-suite acts, I definitely don't want to work here.
- Tell me about your understanding of our company culture.
- Describe your strategy for approaching potential clients.
- What have you learned about our product through your research?
Sales Development Representative
First was a 40min video call. Then the next stage was a lot of case studies or assessment-like exercises, even acquiring real data (phone numbers and emails to existing enterprise companies :D). Also, phone call obstacle breaks simulation and email writing simulation. After that, the next stage... I think that for that position, such a process is exaggerated for such a salary.
- Gather actual contact information (emails, phone numbers) for Company X.
- Draft a sales email targeting the CxO of Company X.
- Engage in a simulated sales call with a gatekeeper.
