First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ingersoll Rand.
Software Engineer Intern
The interview wasn't too intense. I spoke with two interviewers at once who asked questions, alternating between them. It started with personal questions and going over my resume, then moved to more technical ones. The technical questions were more focused on problem-solving approaches than specific technical knowledge. They gave me time to think through my answers.
- Describe your approach to resolving a challenging task within a group, and provide concrete examples from your experience.
Software Development Engineer
The interview process had tough technical questions that really dove deep into areas like algorithms, data structures, and system design. The interviewers were really nice and made it engaging. I actually picked up some cool stuff about [mention specific technology or problem]. All in all, it was a good experience and I learned a lot.
- Can you design a smart building system that uses sensor data and user preferences to cut down on energy use?
Software Engineer
So basically, for software developer jobs, there were two main parts to the interview. First, HR talked to me to see how well I communicate, solve problems, and work with others. Then, there was a technical part with coding challenges and some logic/aptitude tests to check my programming skills and how I think. If you passed both of those, they chose people based on how they did overall. It really checked both the technical stuff and the softer skills needed for the job, using different ways to test.
