Had a negative interview experience. It involved 3 rounds and a take-home assignment, which took about a month. Afterward, they stated they had already filled the position internally. Their decision-making process seems questionable. I wouldn't recommend this company.

Coding Technical

The interview process started with a take-home coding challenge, which was primarily front-end focused. After doing well on that, I proceeded to the next stage: an online coding quiz. This quiz wasn't too difficult, though I did struggle a bit with Javascript date functions, spending about 10 minutes figuring them out. I managed to complete all the tasks, including the bonus part, and believe I met the requirements. My recruiter seemed to misunderstand the role, as Igenio was actually looking for a full-stack developer with strong experience in C#, MVC, and Ember for the front-end. My background is in front-end development with Angular and React, so it wasn't the best fit for either party. I didn't really get to know anyone well; West Coast companies seem more interested in algorithms than past projects, work history, or current activities. The person who administered the online exam was very friendly, helpful, and polite. Overall, my impression of Igenio is very positive.

Applied via LinkedIn and was contacted by HR. Completed a 1-hour object-oriented design problem. HR confirmed I passed and scheduled a 1-hour phone screen with the VP of core engineering. Prior to that, there was a 15-minute call with HR. On the interview day, I spoke with HR first, discussed my visa status, and she said she'd check with the team. Shortly after, the 1-hour interview with the VP was rescheduled to 15 minutes. During the call with the VP, I was given a design problem related to their business. I presented a couple of approaches, but it seemed he expected a specific solution. He ultimately said it wouldn't work and provided his solution, mentioning they were looking for someone "super super" senior. My advice would be that you can't gauge someone's full experience in 15 minutes. Overall, I appreciate the opportunity to learn about the company.
