Customer Success Manager
The interview process with Informatica was really solid. I applied in early March and had my first phone screen about a month later. After that, I had two interviews with folks on the team, including the hiring manager, followed by a panel presentation. The presentation gave me a chance to show how I think about customer success, drive value, and communicate impact. It was definitely the most involved part of the process, but also the most rewarding - I appreciated that it felt realistic and relevant to the role. From first conversation to offer, it took about three weeks. Everyone I met was kind, prepared, and respectful of my time. Overall, it was one of the more well-run interview processes I’ve been part of.

Customer Success Manager
The interview process was not very professional. The first round interviews were with a technical person for a non-technical role. By the third round, I was asked to do a mock customer presentation based on a prompt provided. However, at the start of my presentation, one of the interviewers criticized the topic as if I had chosen it myself, even though it was one of the recruiter's given options. There was very poor communication between recruiting and the interviewers. After investing at least 12 hours in the interview and presentation prep, they made a bait and switch offer for a regular Customer Success Manager role instead of the Senior role I applied for, despite a VP calling me one of the most polished candidates she had ever interviewed. The offer was also $40k less than initially discussed and what I stated I would need. When I asked for feedback on why the senior role was no longer offered, the recruiter ghosted me and never provided an answer. Overall, it was a waste of time and a highly unprofessional, disjointed interview process.
- What's your approach to managing an unhappy customer?
Customer Success Manager
I applied and followed up after a few weeks for a status update. HR then had me interview onsite for my first round, skipping a screening call because I was referred. The onsite interview was a bit awkward; the interviewer was quiet and mumbled, which raised a red flag for me regarding communication style. After following up with HR again, I got to the next round. They took two weeks to organize calls since the interviewer was in California. This second interview, which felt like it could have been the last round, started with 'what questions do you have?'. I asked about the interviewer's career journey, but they responded to a different question, which continued throughout the call and was another red flag. After this, I lost interest and didn't hear back for a while. I followed up multiple times with no response until they finally informed me they moved on with other candidates. My advice is to ensure interviewers are skilled and responsive, especially in a competitive market like Austin, to avoid losing good candidates.
