Hardware Development Engineer
Got a referral before applying. First, there was a phone screen setup, then the actual phone screen. After that, the hiring manager called. Then, I had a virtual half-day interview which included a technical talk with a presentation. Also had virtual one-on-one or group meetings to discuss technical aspects based on each team member's interest.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
- How would you describe your work methodology?
- Could you elaborate on your work mentioned in your resume?
Hardware Engineer
The interview process involved a 45-minute phone call with the hiring manager. This was followed by an in-office interview that included a 1-hour technical presentation and then a 45-minute engineering interview with each of the five interviewers. The second office interview featured a higher-ranking staff member, other managers, and a VP. It is crucial to dedicate time to preparing for the technical presentation and to manage your time effectively during the presentation itself. Be ready to answer fundamental hardware engineering questions concerning transmission lines, coupling, and power issues. The engineers are quite astute, so take your time to formulate thoughtful answers. If you are uncertain about the correct answer, avoid rushing your response.
- Is the coupling capacitive or inductive, and what impact does it have on the signal trace? How would you detect a discontinuity?
- Could you explain the difference between switching and linear regulators? What are the common topologies for a switching regulator, such as buck, boost, or buck-boost?
Hardware Engineer
It wasn't a very professional interview. They just asked about my past experiences. I could hear a lot of people talking in the background, and the interviewer kept moving rooms because they didn't have a place to sit and talk.
- Can you describe your previous internship experiences?
