Behavioral Technical

I interviewed for a Talent Acquisition role at Industry Buying and got to the final round with the CTO. It was a bit weird for a CTO to interview for TA, but I was game. It was a letdown though. The CTO had no LinkedIn profile, so I couldn't check out his background or how he leads. In the interview, he was super rigid and wanted answers in pure technical jargon, not giving any room or help for simpler explanations. It felt pointless and didn't help much. Honestly, the interview felt more like a company branding thing than a real hiring process. I got the vibe the job wasn't really open and the interview didn't match what the job actually is. I hope they change their interview style, especially for HR roles, and make it fairer, more relevant to the job, and more respectful for candidates.

During financial year end, they call with promises that expectations will be met, but after interviews, they won't negotiate salary. They send an offer with a 12% hike, and if questioned, maybe a 20% hike, which is final. For those outside NCR with lower salaries, surviving there on such a hike is difficult. They ask you to justify if you want more. I wasted a day of work, petrol, and tolls for this. First, there's an aptitude test: objective part is easy, subjective is CAT level. Then, interviews with the team manager and finally the CEO/CXO.

Technical Coding Behavioral

The interview started with a recruiter call, followed by three technical rounds. The first technical round focused on data structures, specifically sorting 0s and 1s efficiently, and core Java concepts like Spring IOC/DI, Singleton vs. Static, String memory allocation, and static vs. instance variables. The second round delved into Spring annotations, Java serialization, JVM reflection, building RESTful web services with Spring Boot, and distinguishing between RestController and Controller annotations, along with Java core questions. The third round covered sorting strings by frequency, Spring filters, DBMS ACID properties, transaction handling for bank transfers, API gateway and microservices advantages, exception handling in RESTful services, load balancers, RestTemplate, Spring Cloud, Feign Client, microservice communication, Spring Boot transactions, and JpaRepository features. After clearing these three rounds, a 3-hour CTO round was scheduled. The candidate found the request to take a half-day leave during COVID times to accommodate the interview extremely unprofessional, leading to an overall negative experience and a feeling of wasted time.

Confirmed questions8 questions
  • Regarding data structures, if you have an array with only 0s and 1s, how would you sort it considering minimum time and space complexity?
  • Can you explain Spring IOC/DI and discuss if it's possible to create our own IOC container?
  • What's the difference between Singleton and Static?
