First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Indie Campers.
Intern
The interview was online, about 30 minutes. They asked about my background and experience. They explained the company, its business areas, and the team structure. They also clearly explained the responsibilities of the role. It was a friendly and professional atmosphere, and I got a good impression of the company and team.
- Could you discuss your previous work experience?
- What motivates you to apply for this position?
Operations Support Lead
It took about two months from the initial screening call to the final rejection email. I went through 5 interviews with different people, including the department head, director, COO, and finally the regional manager in person. A major concern was how much they emphasized wanting someone committed to working 60+ hours weekly, and expected us to fix major company issues independently without any promotion prospects for at least two years. Another issue was the complete lack of information about any job benefits, not even emotional or experience-related ones, and the pay range was never mentioned, which is tough when facing a long interview process. The recruiter was initially very communicative and friendly, but after the last interview, they became evasive and eventually ghosted me. I was ghosted for two weeks before getting a generic rejection email with no feedback. So, effectively, I'm still being ghosted. It's understandable why they've been trying to fill this position for six months; it's a horrible experience, I'd stay away from Indie Campers.
- Would you be open to working 50-60 hours weekly, which might include weekends and late shifts?
Head of CRM
I went through 4 interviews with Indie Campers for the Head of CRM position, and each one lasted over an hour, some almost two hours! So that's a serious time commitment, 5-7 hours on calls plus the prep work. It started with two interviews with the CMO, who was my manager. The first was to get to know me and my career journey, and the second was to learn about the company and how the role fits. Then, I had a technical interview with a case study conducted by the senior-most person on the team I'd manage. The final step was an interview with the CEO. After all this, and even waiting 30 minutes for the CEO call because they were late, they just ghosted me for months without any update.
- What was a class you enjoyed in high school?
Marketing
The interview process was pretty smooth until the cultural fit interview. I didn't have any tasks, but I did have a technical interview with the freelancer. The interview with the CMO was great, but the cultural fit interview was really weird. I asked the C-level guy that he wasn't interviewing about life balance and he just gave me generic answers, as if that was something that people don't like to work for, that the company asked me to see the company's side, that they don't deduct for doctor's visits and I can't pay overtime.
- Could you share your experience with us?
- Do you have any technical questions for us?
- Can you tell me about a time you relocated for a job?
