I had applied through GATE score, but for selection, the main factor is the interview. A few people get shortlisted for every department. The interview is conducted by a panel of 5-8 professors. At the start of the interview, the area of interest is asked. Questions are asked generally from that area. A lot of freedom is there in terms of which departments you can apply. Just that you need to clear the interview for that department, no matter what your B.Tech department was.

Confirmed questions6 questions
  • Which area would you like me to ask questions from?
  • Can you write the heat transfer equation on a sphere surface?
  • What is the Biot number?

To be eligible for this program, students need a Master's degree. Candidates who've qualified in competitive exams like GATE and NET are selected for interviews. If you have an MTech, you don't need to have qualified in those exams. You'll need to choose departments you're interested in when you apply and pay a fee. After that, shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview in the department they applied to.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • What research areas are you interested in?
  • What is your motivation for pursuing a PhD?
  • Can you elaborate on your technical knowledge?
