Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Independence Blue Cross.
Intern
The internship hiring process was pretty chill and ran smoothly. The HR person was really nice and welcoming. They mentioned that if the specific role you applied for isn't a good fit, they might have other opportunities for you.
- Could you tell me what you're currently studying?
- Are there any community service activities you're involved in?
- What are your future career aspirations?
Internship
I had a phone screen, then an in-person HR screen which asked the same questions as the phone screen and felt unnecessary. Then I had an in-person interview with the Hiring Manager and some of the team. The HM was on his phone, didn't ask anything, and was late. I haven't heard back in weeks and don't know if I got an offer.
- Can you describe a situation where you experienced failure?
Intern
I found the job online and they reached out a couple of weeks after I applied. The first step was a basic phone screening. The questions were really simple, like asking about my major and my career goals. After a few more weeks, I had a chat with the person who would be my manager. It felt more like a casual meet-and-greet than a formal interview. They asked more questions to get to know me, and we had a relaxed conversation about what the company does, especially in that specific department.
- Could you allocate the percentage of profits to different sectors within the healthcare industry, such as administration, hospitals, and others?
