Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Indeed.
Client Support Specialist
I was initially contacted by a recruiter who conducted a brief phone screen to understand my background and career goals. This was followed by an on-site interview with the hiring manager and the regional director, where I met with each of them individually for about an hour in total. After not hearing back, I reached out to the recruiter. She then informed me via a short phone call that another candidate was selected but they'd like to keep in touch, which I appreciated as a personal touch. Overall, the interactions were pleasant and informative, with a conversational interview style that I enjoyed. They seemed to invest time in getting to know me, and I'm glad they found the right person for the role.

Program Specialist
So there were 3 rounds. The first round involved 3 separate 30-minute meetings with people I would be working with directly. The second round was a 45-minute meeting where I had to give a presentation pitch. This meeting was with the hiring manager and another program specialist who I'd be collaborating with. The final round was a meeting with some senior leadership.

Client Support Specialist
Got an internal referral from someone I know. She sent me a link to job openings. I told her I wanted the Client Support Specialist job because I have customer service experience and seemed qualified. She referred me to the wrong position initially but still set up a phone interview that was weeks away. I interviewed with a recruiter from Austin, and she was interviewing me for a completely different role without me realizing it. I thought I was marketing myself for the client support specialist position and she even asked if I read the job posting. Three days later, I found out they weren't moving forward with my application. I felt embarrassed, and the employee who referred me never apologized or owned up to it, just ignored me. I think her only motive was to fulfill the referral. It was a waste of time, and I could have really used the job I originally applied for. It was very unprofessional, but the interview itself was conducted properly with basic, broad questions.
- Can you share an example of a time you took initiative and contributed effectively within a team environment?
