Software Engineer Intern
So, first I had this online assessment on Hackerrank with about 6 LeetCode easy problems to solve in 2.5 hours. After that, I had an interview where they asked me two questions. The interviewer was pretty nice.
- Can you explain the Nim Game, which is a Math Problem on LeetCode?
- Explain the pillars of OOP.
Senior Software Engineer
I had two interviews, all online and all timed to 1H~1H 15M max, with 2 engineers. The first interview involved questions about java in general, oop, memory model, and a lot of threading questions (expect to write code), this interview was overall good, but I got that vibe that they were always looking for a specific answer, even if your answer is correct, they were looking for that specific thing the interviewer had in mind. The second interview was a disaster, it began with a system design question, I was asked to design a whatsapp like system (I have slightly more than 2 years of experience), as requested I began collecting requirements and some info to do some storage estimations after 5 mins or so, the interviewer asked me to stop with the requirements and start white boarding diagrams, ~15 mins he asked me to list the components of what makes a system scalable in general then the interviewer concluded the question and that they saw enough. we moved to problem solving, I had two questions to solve on a google doc, also this part was concluded after ~20 minutes, I didn't finish the code, the interviewer said they were looking for an insight not the complete code and they have seen enough, so if you begin writing code with a helper function like I did, tough luck, the rest of the interview was about DB, nothing special here. To conclude, sometimes the interviewers were looking for certain keywords, not the a solution for the problem they ask, if you say the magic word they seek then you're good, also they don't give you enough time to answer.
- Can you design a whatsapp like system?
- Can you add two reversed numbers in linked list?
Technical Lead
The interview process involved a technical interview focusing on Java questions covering threading, memory management, collections, Java basics, and object-oriented concepts. Following that, there was an HR interview with general questions, and finally, an interview with the head of engineering for a brief discussion about the company.
- Can you explain Java threading, memory management, collections, Java basics, and object-oriented concepts?
- Do you have any general questions for HR?
- Could you provide a brief overview of the company?
