Submitted resume via referral and got an email from the program director within two days to schedule a phone interview. This call will be all behavioral questions and some about what you know about the company. Use the STAR method and be ready with real scenarios. If the manager likes you at the end of the phone interview, you'll get an invite for an in person interview. This interview is with the program director and will focus more on your past experience and skills. Be sure to know what you want to do in your career and why. They're searching for ambitious, go-getter types. Technical skills are good to mention, but the interviewer wants to see if you're capable and eager to learn. Avoid acting like a know-it-all; it's okay to say you don't know something. After the sit-down interview, if it's going well, you'll get a tour of the office and meet other interns and key people. Prepare your elevator speech for everyone you meet. They want to see your personal interaction and communication skills to gauge cultural fit. Usually, you'll know if you're hired by the end of the office tour.

Applied through school and got contacted a week later. The first interview was a 30-minute phone call with a director, focusing heavily on behavioral questions. A few days later, I received an email for a second round office interview. The following week, I went in to talk with the same director for another 30 minutes, covering more in-depth behavioral and resume questions. I was then shown around the office and introduced to staff at various levels. A week after that, HR called me to inform me that I would be moving forward with an offer.

It was pretty standard, I had a phone screen and then two more interviews after that. The questions were typical, but the role wasn't really in my area, so I wasn't the best fit.
