This hiring process was a mess. They initially contacted me because, despite being underqualified for my initial application, they had another role in mind. The recruiter went silent, and after I followed up, they apologized for forgetting me, sounding quite desperate when I stated I was no longer interested. The final interview was at their Stamford office, and it was the third person I spoke with about the position. Compensation and benefits details were still unclear. I emailed the recruiter to withdraw my application.

I had an in person interview with a creative director where we reviewed my portfolio and experience, and talked about the job. It was pretty chill. They were more interested in the thought process behind my work, not just the final designs. I was invited back for a second interview. It took a week for them to schedule it after I followed up. The second interview was with three Assistant Creative Directors. We discussed their client work, company culture, and the day-to-day aspects of the role. They looked at my work again during this meeting.

I got a call from HR about the position, even though I hadn't applied. They found my resume online and thought I'd be a good fit. First, I had a phone interview with HR. Then, I met the VP and an Account Supervisor in person. HR called the same day to say I was moving on. The next step was a presentation of a marketing plan for a made-up situation. I went back the next week to present my plan to another VP. HR let me know they really liked my presentation and wanted me to meet the client. The client meeting went well, and they offered me the job that same afternoon. The interviews were pretty easy, mostly asking about my past experience. They didn't ask any 'tell me about a time' questions. I plan to really focus on the presentation, making hard copies for everyone and including shopper insights.

It started out really well, the recruiter was super responsive and helpful. But once the in-person interview happened, it was like a complete 180 and I felt ignored. The interview itself was pretty casual, mostly focused on getting to know me. After I left the office though, I was ghosted by everyone. I sent follow-up emails the same day and got a response a week later saying they'd update me in a few days. But I never heard back from anyone.
