Engineering Manager
The interview process was a really positive experience, giving me great insight into the company and its culture. It felt like the best candidate experience I've had. It started with an initial chat with a recruiter about the role, the company, and my background/motivations. Then, a call with a senior engineer to dive deeper into technical projects and discuss management approaches. The onsite involved three behavioral interviews focused on people management, process management, and self-management, plus a technical design question based on a simplified SpatialOS. The process wrapped up with a final call with the CEO and Head of Enterprise for a culture check and to answer my questions about the company and role. Overall, it was an excellent process with clear interview goals and well-structured questions, making me feel like I wasn't just going through hoops. I appreciated the single onsite day with everything else being remote. My recruiter was also super flexible and helped speed things up because I had other offers.
- Can you share an example of a project you worked on that was struggling, what steps you took, and how you resolved it?
- Tell me about your experience managing people.
- How do you approach process management?
Engineering Manager
The interview process was thorough but fair and not unnecessarily long. It started with a recruiter screen, followed by a call with the hiring manager. Then there was a half-day interview scheduled that included a case study challenge and other interviews. I didn't go through with the final half-day because I decided to stay in my current position. However, it all seemed reasonable, based on my experience hiring in this field. The people I interacted with were very intelligent, sharp, and professional, which presented the company very well.
- What are your views on military applications?
- Could you describe your management philosophy?
- What are your expectations for your next role?
Engineering Manager
A current employee put my profile forward. I had a 1-hour call with their internal recruiter, who went into detail about the company and asked about the relevant experience I could offer. Next, I had a 45-minute chat with one of their Senior Engineering Managers. They were seeking someone with a proven track record as an Engineering Manager. While it was an interesting discussion, I got the impression they weren't interested in my profile, which turned out to be true. They suggested I apply for a Senior Software Engineer role, but I declined. In my view, the feedback process could have been quicker. The interview was for a Senior Software Engineer position.
- How do you track your team members' professional development?
