Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Impact Networking.
Sales Consultant
The interview process started with an informal campus interview, which led to a second round in Chicago. This second round was also informal and mainly involved me asking questions about the role. The third round was a job shadow, where I followed an existing employee. The description implies that successfully completing the job shadow without complaint virtually guarantees an offer, although the company is described as having a high turnover rate.
- Can you share an instance where you demonstrated being a hard worker?
Sales Consultant
I found Impact Networking at a career fair. I went to an informational session, then had my first interview the next day at Purdue. I didn't prepare much for this one, just some company research and reviewed my notes from the info session. A week later, I was invited back for a second interview at their corporate headquarters. I was super excited, so I studied two interview books, did a ton of research and practice, and even asked one of the managers who interviewed me first for some tips for the second interview. I spent about three days straight going over tough questions and thinking of good questions to ask them. A few days before my interview, there was a Technology show that I decided to attend to learn more about their services. I met most of the sales reps from the Waukegan office there, and also the Sales Manager who was going to interview me. Even though I didn't know everything, it sounded like a really cool company I wanted to work for. I went to the interview a few days later, and it was pretty easy because I had prepared so much and I had already met the interviewer. I liked Impact even more after that. The last step was a Ride Day where I shadowed a sales rep for a whole day to get hands-on experience in the field with customers. I loved it! I got the job and have been really happy here since.
- How do you feel about rejection?
Sales Consultant
A recruiter reached out to me from my college career site and wanted to discuss a potential fit. We scheduled a 1:1 interview which went well, and I got all my questions answered by the branch manager who was easy to talk to and seemed upfront. Then I did a 'day in the office' which for a sales consultant at Impact involves a lot of cold calling throughout the region, going door-to-door and dealing with receptionists. While the interview and day-in-the-office part were fine, I felt the compensation wasn't aligned with the intense workload.
- Why are you a good fit for Impact?
