Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IMEG.
Design Engineer
The interview process was really smooth and efficient. It gave me enough info to feel good about taking the job and to understand how the company benefits from being an ESOP and from its rapid growth. I liked the person interviewing me. It was mostly online until the later stages.
- Can you tell me about any relevant project experience you have?
- What materials have you worked with previously?
Project Engineer
The Principal kicked off the interview, which was the first in-person one post-Covid. We had a brief chat about my background and the kind of projects the IMEG LA office handles. Then, I had a short 20-minute assessment on mechanics and structural engineering fundamentals. If you've got 2-3 years of experience in SoCal, you should find it manageable. After that, two senior engineers joined for a more casual conversation. They asked about me and my work history, and I got to ask them about their experiences at IMEG. Finally, the Principal gave me an office tour and introduced me to everyone. They got back to me with an offer about a week later.
- Could you elaborate on your past experience and the projects you've been involved with?
- Can you describe the types of projects you have worked on?
Design Engineer
I went through 3 interviews in total. Two of them were technical interviews, and the other one was an HR interview. They asked me questions about basic thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and the pychrometric chart. During the HR interview, they asked me more general questions, like about my strengths and weaknesses. They also gave me a puzzle to solve.
- Tell me about the Psychrometric Chart.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- Can you solve this puzzle?
