After applying online for an analog design role and passing the initial screening, I was invited for an interview. Setting it up took a little while, but it was a really positive experience. I spoke with two interviewers who were friendly yet straightforward and focused. We started by discussing my published papers, diving into the details of the circuits and findings. Following that, I was presented with two circuit diagrams: one for a half-wave rectifier using an op-amp and another for a general amplifier. The discussion then moved to fundamental analog design questions covering gain, impedance at specific nodes, noise analysis, and block identification. It's important to have a solid grasp of the basics, but it's also fine to make small errors or admit when you don't know an analytical answer, as long as you're honest.
