Instructor
The owner of the Cedar Park location posted on Craigslist looking for new instructors, asking for a resume and photo. After I sent that over, the GM emailed me and asked me to come in and try a class, which would be part of the interview. I went and attended a class. After class, I waited about 20 minutes before the GM, owner, and another instructor took me to a small room. It was more of a casual chat about myself than a formal interview, with lots of jokes and discussion about my life and hobbies. I felt it went well and was what I was looking for: a paid workout teaching job. The GM then asked me to send a video of myself teaching something, which I did a few days later. I never heard back about the video or received replies to my follow-up emails, which I found unprofessional and rude. I also doubt many people would work all day and into the evening for $10-$12 an hour.
- Can you tell us a little about yourself?
- What's your experience with kickboxing?
- What led to your departure from the army?
Instructor
The interview was pretty chill. I think it's more about the franchisee though. The owners of the place I interviewed with and later worked for were great people, so it felt more like a regular conversation than an interrogation where they blast questions at you.
- What makes you want to become an instructor?
Instructor
I was looking for a job and found an ad that looked interesting. It was for a teaching position at a fast-growing fitness franchise. I applied online, then had a short phone interview. After that, I met with the manager to talk more about the job. Then, I went to a local gym to take a fitness class. I loved the program and got hired.
