The interview process was pretty straightforward and easy to get through. You'll want to make sure your answers tie back to health and fitness, and why it's so important. Definitely pull in examples from your own background too, and talk about times you've helped people transform their lives, both physically and mentally.

We had a group interview with about 10 people socially distanced. First, we changed into workout clothes and introduced ourselves, talking about why we want the job. Then, the manager and head trainer showed us a class, and we had to follow along like we were members. Next, we drew two random words and had to create a sales pitch using them, with 2 minutes to prepare before presenting individually. After that, we got more info about the gym and changed back into professional clothes. Finally, we were called back one by one to the break room for interviews with both trainers.

Behavioral Other

The interview process was pretty misleading and different from what I expected. During the initial phone call, the recruiter told me one thing about the shifts and pay, but when I came in for the in-person interview, the interviewer told me something completely different. The phone recruiter mentioned shifts from 4:30 am to 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm, working 5-6 days a week, at $15/hour. I was invited for a 4-hour in-person interview that included a fitness class. After a short talk and a workout, the interviewer informed me the job only offered about 15 hours a week. She also said the shifts were from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm, and that the recruiter on the phone didn't know much. The interviewer seemed confused when I mentioned what the recruiter on the phone had said. It felt disorganized. I tried to stay polite and act interested, even though I was upset about the wasted time and misleading information, especially since I have bills to pay.

Behavioral Presentation Technical

The owner of the Cedar Park location posted on Craigslist looking for new instructors, asking for a resume and photo. After I sent that over, the GM emailed me and asked me to come in and try a class, which would be part of the interview. I went and attended a class. After class, I waited about 20 minutes before the GM, owner, and another instructor took me to a small room. It was more of a casual chat about myself than a formal interview, with lots of jokes and discussion about my life and hobbies. I felt it went well and was what I was looking for: a paid workout teaching job. The GM then asked me to send a video of myself teaching something, which I did a few days later. I never heard back about the video or received replies to my follow-up emails, which I found unprofessional and rude. I also doubt many people would work all day and into the evening for $10-$12 an hour.
