It started as a call for summer internships in the Applied Mechanics department. There are 3 positions available. The successful applicants are awarded the internship based on merit. The interns then meet the professors they want to work with and decide on a project. In most cases, it's not going to be a significant contribution given the duration of 3 months.

Coding Technical

The interviewer asked me to optimize some code to reduce comparisons. I started explaining the Tournament Approach, mentioning it uses (3n/2 - 2) comparisons to find min and max. My explanation wasn't clear, and they kept asking how I was approaching it. I suggested dividing the array in half, creating min and max arrays from each half, and then finding the overall min and max. This part confused them and became the main focus of the interview.
