First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IIT Delhi.
PhD Student
If you have an M. Tech. Degree, you can apply directly to any department. Each department has its own unique interview process. Ours involves a written test (similar to GATE level questions) and a personal interview where we assess your basic knowledge. We mainly focus on your problem-solving approach.
- Can you provide the formal definition of random variables?
PhD Student
The interview experience was good and informative regarding the questions. Basic knowledge is essential to pass. It starts with fundamental gate questions and requires genuine research ideas for success. Professors create a comfortable atmosphere but will challenge you if you deviate from the basics, so be cautious.
- Could you describe the IGBT symbol?
- Explain resonant converters.
- What is finite element analysis?
PhD Student
The interview process involves a phone interview with one manager, followed by an onsite interview with two bosses. The entire process takes about 3 weeks, and you'll hear back within 3 days after the interview. Initially, I got a rejection letter from HR, but later that afternoon, they called to admit their mistake and offered me the position.
