Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IE University.
Associate Director
I had an online interview with two managers, followed by an in-person meeting with a peer in a similar role. They explained the job and asked me about my experience with similar projects and my skills.
- Can you tell me about your experience and skills?
Associate Director
Had an initial 15 min chat with recruitment, then scheduled a 1-hour call. In the second call, they explained the psychometric tests and how to succeed in them, which I found very generous. Took the online exam, lasting almost two hours, after which they shared outstanding results. Then scheduled a call with the dean and another Associate Director from the School. They cancelled 30 mins prior and rescheduled for the following week. Finally had the interview, and it was a big letdown. It seemed like they didn't want to do it and they made me uncomfortable from the start. After that, they didn't say thank you or give feedback after the time invested. I had to write to the HR person to ask for information.
- Explain how your experience aligns with each aspect of the role description.
Associate Director
Started with a cold call which was unprofessional and made scheduling hard. When I tried to reschedule, the recruiter ghosted me. I had to find their email through a connection and finally set up a call. The recruiter was vague about benefits. Then I had a long online assessment (1.5-2 hours) that didn't feel very relevant, even though they briefly explained it. They said I'd get results the next day but sent a partial email three days later saying I didn't pass, with missing results and a personality test that wasn't even scored. The whole thing was disorganized and felt like a bureaucratic company pretending to be innovative.
- The assessment evaluates your comprehension, inductive and deductive reasoning, ability to multi-task, organizational skills, and personality traits.
