First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IE University.
Marketing and Communications
Initial contact was via the university platform, then they called me by phone, and finally, there was an in-person interview. The interview was quite straightforward, lasting about 30 minutes, with a part in English. They are very interested if someone is an ex-alumni, but there's a lot of turnover here.
- Tell me about your marketing and copywriting skills.
- What motivated you to apply?
- What are your expectations for this role?
Associate Director
Had an initial 15 min chat with recruitment, then scheduled a 1-hour call. In the second call, they explained the psychometric tests and how to succeed in them, which I found very generous. Took the online exam, lasting almost two hours, after which they shared outstanding results. Then scheduled a call with the dean and another Associate Director from the School. They cancelled 30 mins prior and rescheduled for the following week. Finally had the interview, and it was a big letdown. It seemed like they didn't want to do it and they made me uncomfortable from the start. After that, they didn't say thank you or give feedback after the time invested. I had to write to the HR person to ask for information.
- Explain how your experience aligns with each aspect of the role description.
Program Assistant
My recruitment process for this job in Spain was really messed up. I got a call during the holidays, which was inconvenient, and they didn't leave a voicemail or email. After trying to reach HR through different people, I heard back from an intern who sent me an interview schedule and told me to "make sure I pick up the phone," which felt condescending and unprofessional. We finally scheduled an interview, but they never called, and my attempts to reach them after that went unanswered. It left a bad impression.
- No interview was conducted after we agreed on a date and time; I did not receive any phone call.
Business Analyst
The process felt slow and lacked feedback, with complete silence. After an initial HR phone call, I was sent a recording interview with questions about IE and the education sector, which were quite basic and didn't assess my skills. Following this, there was no feedback, even after follow-up emails. It was also strange that as a foreigner, my visa type and how I obtained it were directly asked about in the first call, which I found unusually personal compared to my interview experiences in Spain, including at a Big4 firm.
- What makes you interested in IE University?
- Can you explain your interest in the education sector?
