First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IDT.
Software Engineer
I went through a two-stage interview process. First, there was an HR screen where I talked about my tech background and salary expectations. Then, I had a technical interview with two engineers, a team lead and a manager who also had an engineering background. They asked me about Go, databases, system design, and some behavioral questions. After the discussion, we had an online coding task. Unfortunately, I received a rejection email stating I lacked basic CS knowledge, without specifying what areas. The interview environment felt high-pressure; I was interrupted frequently, the interview lacked structure, and the requirements seemed to change as we went. It felt like the interviewers believed they were the only ones with the correct understanding.
- What is a goroutine and how does it differ from an OS thread?
- Can you explain how the Go scheduler operates?
Software Engineer
it was a pretty good process, first I spoke with HR, we talked about the details and set up a technical interview. Then, I had a technical interview with someone who turned out to be a great colleague. Finally, I met with the manager and HR to wrap things up.
- basic questions about the programming language
- some questions about databases
- questions about system internals
Software Engineer
After applying online, HR reached out about a take-home test. Then I went for an onsite interview and met with three interviewers. They asked me about data structures and algorithms, and also about my past projects.
- Could you implement the Fibonacci sequence both iteratively and recursively?
- Tell me about your past projects.
- Can you explain some data structures and algorithms?
