Got started with good contact from TA. Then there was a psychometric test, which was a bit of a red flag for me 'cause it seemed super old-fashioned for 2026. After that, I had the final interview in a meeting room, but weirdly, I wasn't shown the actual office. The interview itself felt pretty uncomfortable, and it was obvious I wasn't hitting all their strict criteria. I knew it wasn't a good fit as soon as I left, and then I heard nothing back, which was a pretty bad candidate experience overall.

First, you submit your resume and cover letter. Then, a recruiter will screen it to see if you're a good fit. Sometimes, there's an initial call to check basic stuff. After that, you might have an interview with HR or the hiring manager, where they'll ask about your background, skills, and why you want the job. Some jobs also have a technical test, like a case study or coding challenge, or problem-solving questions. Then, you'll likely have a more in-depth interview, either in person or with a panel, where they'll dig into your past experiences, how you solve problems, and your technical skills. They might use the STAR method for behavioral questions. Finally, there's a chat about cultural fit, salary, and company policies, maybe with HR. After that, if they like you, they'll make an offer and might do a background check.

We ask for many references which can be too much for busy people. It often feels overwhelming and unreasonable, given their various commitments. The expectation to provide extensive information can lead to stress and frustration, making it difficult for them to manage such requests alongside their other responsibilities. Recognizing the impact of these demands on their time and energy is essential.
