First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IDEXX Laboratories.
Sales Representative
The first conversation was with the Sales Manager, which was quite relaxed and focused on getting to know each other. The second meeting was with the Country Manager and was also not difficult, consisting of standard questions about my sales experience.
- Why did you quit your last job after 10 years?
Inside Sales Representative
I had an interview with two senior people from Idexx. It felt a bit boring and formal the whole time. I didn't get much of a sense of what it would be like to work there.
- Why are you interested in Idexx?
Sales Representative
I got contacted by an IDEXX HR person on LinkedIn. We had a phone interview, which went well, and he sent me to an in-person interview with the hiring manager the next week. The interview was almost 4 hours long, included a mock sales role-play, and was surprisingly comfortable. I was told 2 other people were interviewing for the role, and that only 2 would move on to the final interview with the regional manager, with an offer coming mid-month. Mid-month arrived, and I heard nothing. I had to chase the HR contact twice for a response. He said he hadn't heard anything either, and that no news isn't necessarily bad news, and he'd let me know when he heard something. Nine days later, still nothing. It felt rude and unprofessional, especially after such a long interview. I feel I deserved at least a rejection email. I wouldn't recommend interviewing here.
- The role play was about selling Lasik surgery equipment to an ophthalmologist, who was the hiring manager.
- An IDEXX employee who would work with the new hire also spoke with me while the hiring manager stepped out.
