The whole thing moved pretty fast and smooth. A colleague reached out about a week after I applied. Turns out it was my future manager, and we chatted about my background, education, experience, and projects. A few days later, HR called to discuss the usual HR topics. Then, within a couple more days, I was set up for an interview with about 5-6 engineers on a Microsoft Teams call. We covered a lot of ground. For this Java role, they asked around 4 Java questions (leetcode easy level), then some Linux Bash questions about commands, followed by 3-4 practical SQL questions. It seemed to go well, because I got the offer in 2-3 days, and I took it.

Confirmed questions5 questions

  • In SQL, what's the way to determine the count of records from a few tables?
  • Can you list some common bash commands? For example, for starting processes, deleting, or checking file size.

I was first contacted by a consultancy, and after discussing my salary expectations, they confirmed the company could meet them. The next day, I received a link for an online exam with MCQs and coding questions. After passing that, I was invited for a face-to-face interview at their Noida office, which involved two rounds: a technical round covering concepts and coding, and a techno-managerial round discussing my past projects. Following positive feedback from HR, I had a 15-20 minute telephonic interview with the Head of Engineering, which also went well. However, after all these stages, the consultancy informed me that my expectations were too high and out of budget, despite initial confirmation and my upfront communication of requirements. This felt like a waste of my time and resources due to the company's handling of the process.

The interviewer seemed to have a negative attitude from the start. I managed to answer most of the questions, but the interviewer's response was not positive, and they were quite rude. I got the impression the interview was just a formality. It makes me wonder why they hold walk-in interviews if they already have internal referrals. Companies should also get feedback from candidates. My advice to other candidates is to avoid this company. Their hiring process is not well-defined.
