Proposal Manager
So I went through this 4-round interview process, starting with a phone screen, then a zoom call with the hiring managers, followed by a live homework presentation, and finally an interview with an Executive/Director. The whole thing took about 5 weeks and I made it all the way to the end. The hiring manager was super positive, saying I'd be a perfect fit and that my homework was the best she'd ever seen. But even with that, and after they got over 600 applications, they didn't hire anyone and just reposted the job. I put in a lot of time and effort, and when I asked for feedback, the recruiter just ghosted me. Honestly, it felt really disrespectful and like they didn't care about candidates' time. I definitely wouldn't interview with them again.

Manager
About a month after I applied, I had my first interview. There were two people interviewing me, one seemed ready and the other wasn't. Then, about six months later, I had a second interview. This time, there were also two interviewers, and they were both prepared. The structure and questions were pretty similar in both interviews: they started with 'introduce yourself,' then asked about my past managing experience, my experience with policy, how I handle teamwork, and how I work with clients. Each interview lasted about an hour.
- Could you start by introducing yourself?
- Can you share some of your previous managing experience?
- Tell me about your experience in previous policy areas.
Manager
The interview process was really thorough. It started with a phone call from HR. Then, about two weeks later, I had a call with the hiring manager. After that, I went in person to meet with the hiring manager and her boss, who is the VP of the business unit. A few more weeks went by, and then I had another in-person interview with two senior people from my future team. My feeling is that they all really knew what they were looking for and what they wanted in a new team member. They asked a lot of specific questions about skills, people I knew, and how I approach real-life work situations. You couldn't really fake your way through it.
