Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

After applying I got a call from a really nice recruitment officer. We chatted about my background, why I wanted to leave my current job, why I was keen on Iceland, and what I knew about the company. Then, I was put forward for an interview. Before that, I had to do a SWOT analysis on an Iceland store and a competitor's store, plus some online tests for verbal reasoning, math, and personality. When I got to the interview, the staff member I asked for the Recruitment Manager said she wasn't there yet and got the Store Manager instead. Then, she mentioned the interviewing managers were on a conference call... so I had to wait 40 minutes, which made me feel like they weren't that bothered about me as an external candidate! When they finally showed up, the managers pulled a table out in the staff canteen (the door was broken and wouldn't shut!) and started the interview there. The first interview was competency-based. They told me the second interview would involve a store walk, then writing a business plan and discussing it.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I was contacted by a really approachable and professional recruiter from Iceland. We talked about my current responsibilities and KPIs. After a general chat, I had a phone interview with the same recruiter where we went into more detail about my current role and KPIs. We also discussed how my performance is managed daily and how I manage my team. If that went well, I was invited to a first-stage interview. There, I did a SWOT analysis on an Iceland store and a competitor, and then discussed it. I also went over my current responsibilities and how I perform in my role. If successful, I then did a work shadow with a Store Manager and had a second interview. In that interview, I did another SWOT analysis and presented it to the Area Manager and Recruiter. This was a chance to present my findings and talk more about my responsibilities and performance delivery. The whole process was very professional and a great experience.

So there was this initial phone call thing, lasted about 45 mins. Then I had a 1st stage interview with the Recruitment Manager, that was about 1.5 hours. After that, I think there was a job shadow part, and then the final interview with the area manager.
