Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Iceland Foods.
Retail Sales Associate
Had a chill chat with the store manager. They asked informal stuff like about my past jobs, my availability, and my working hours. They wanted to know if I'm flexible enough to help out with cover when needed on short notice.
- What are your working availability hours?
- Tell me about your past work experience.
- How flexible are you with your schedule for last-minute cover?
Sales Associate
Got an email the day before the interview, so it was pretty short notice. I thought the interview itself went pretty well, and the interviewer and I even found some common ground to chat about. However, I felt a bit weird when they started asking about my personal life, like who I live with and if that person is employed. I'm not really sure how that's related to my ability to do the job. It was also frustrating that Iceland took 4 weeks to get back to me about not getting the job, especially since the interviewer said I'd hear back in 4 days.
- Are you able to work the hours that are typically expected, or are there any specific times or days you are unavailable?
- What kind of interests do you have?
Sales Associate
It was a great interview, the staff were very friendly and approachable which made it less nerve wracking! After I had handed in my application for the role I was called in for an interview and then later offered the job.
- What experience do you have in sales?
- Why are you interested in this particular role?
- Can you share an example of when you demonstrated teamwork?
