I came into the store for the interview and the manager was very nice and asked me why I wanted to work there. They seemed accommodating to students, although the store seemed a bit understaffed. It was mentioned that picking up shifts was easy and the checkout systems were quite simple to use. However, there were issues with discounts not being applied correctly at the till, which led to customers returning to have it fixed.

I sat in the break room until the manager took me to an office. She asked me 3 situational questions and then my availability. The manager didn’t seem interested or involved and kept all conversation very minimal. I had no real opportunity to describe myself as she only asked 3 basic situational questions. I’ve worked for Iceland before, but she didn’t ask anything about that. She said I’d hear off them by the end of the week but I haven’t heard anything.

So the interview for a Retail Assistant at Iceland is pretty straightforward. It's a quick one-on-one with the manager. They'll ask about stuff like your customer service skills, when you can work, if you're good with teamwork, and what makes you want the job. Then, they might throw some scenario questions at you or do a role-play to see how you'd actually handle things in the shop.
