First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Iberdrola.
Engineer
You have a psychometric test, an English test, and others. There's a short call to discuss your experience, education, and career goals. The process is longer than for other companies, especially for engineering roles. The tests themselves aren't difficult.
- What is your desired base salary?
Project Engineer
It was pretty relaxed, they asked about my past work and what I know. The interviews mostly covered what I'd be doing in the future and the kind of tasks I'd encounter during my time there. Salary negotiation was brief: I gave my number, then Iberdrola made an offer, which was pretty much take it or leave it, though there might be some room for negotiation if the HR manager initially said it was final, especially if they really need someone. It's a good chance for local folks in areas where the company does construction work.
- Can you tell me about the project you'd be working on and how it functions (like a power plant)?
- What are your thoughts on the project and its operational aspects?
Project Engineer
The interview had a few parts. First, they asked technical questions about my project management background. Then, we went through some practical case studies. They also wanted to see how I solve problems, make decisions when things get tough, and lead teams. I also had to talk about old projects and how I dealt with tricky situations. The last part was about whether I'd fit in with the company culture and my people skills, covering things like leading, talking to others, and working together. It was a pretty thorough process to check both my hard skills and my soft skills.
- Can you walk me through a challenging project you were involved in? Explain your strategy for resource allocation, timeline adherence, and risk mitigation, and detail the actions you took to guarantee a successful outcome.
