First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hyperloop One.
Engineer
Had 3 interviews, which was a fun, challenging, and streamlined process! First was a recruiter call with HR, who then set me up with an engineer for a technical interview. Followed by one more interview with another engineer, which was very challenging. HR was very helpful and good with response time. Everyone I spoke to was very kind and had nothing but good things to say about the company. The technical interviews were challenging-- expect to be grilled on your work experience and asked several related technical questions.
- Could you elaborate on your previous internship experiences?
- Can you discuss your past work experience?
- Please answer some technical questions related to your work experience.
Design Engineer
I applied online and had to answer some technical questions. I didn't get a response, so I reached out to HR. They asked me to reapply, and then they quickly scheduled a phone call. It was a casual chat about my background, what I'm seeking, the company, and the job. The HR person said she'd talk to the hiring manager and get back to me, but she never did. After I followed up with no reply, I got an automated rejection email. It was disappointing. I get that there are many applicants, but I don't think HR has half-hour calls with everyone. If you interview someone and decide to reject them, at least show some consideration. A direct email would've been better than a bot one. Also, maybe check with the hiring manager before scheduling a call? If my experience isn't a good fit, it would save everyone time if we didn't have the call at all.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
- What are your career aspirations for this position?
- What do you know about our company?
Design Engineer
I applied online and got an email for a phone HR interview pretty quickly. They gave me limited time slots for the interview on Thursday or Friday, and I picked Friday to prepare. The interviewer was on time, introduced herself, and asked me to walk through my resume. The interview was structured well; she asked questions, then talked about the company, then asked more questions. This kept me engaged. She asked deep questions about my past work, which surprised me coming from HR, but I was ready. I haven't heard back or received any feedback, even after a month, which was disappointing.
