The HR person didn't really know what they were hiring for. After our first chat, I got an instant rejection email saying it was mainly front-end and required JavaScript knowledge. This was weird because I'd mentioned using React, Node, and Typescript, and she didn't seem to know what those were. Plus, it was supposed to be a full-stack role, not just front-end. Anyway, after I replied to the recruiter pointing out I do know JavaScript, they did send me a 200-minute HackerRank technical test with React-specific parts.

It was a 3 round interview. The first round was a hackerrank with one coding question about Java collections. The second round was a technical interview focusing on the rest assured API testing delete method. The final round was a mix of in-depth technical questions about rest assured API automation and behavioral questions. They rejected the offer in the end. I felt I did pretty well overall but I'm unsure why I was rejected.

First, there was a recruiter screen. Then, a HackerRank code screen for about 45 minutes, which included two questions: one on vanilla JS and another on debugging a React app. After that, I had an engineer chat with two team members concurrently for an hour. This part involved a partial history review and some general technical questions focusing on React. I didn't use a coding platform or whiteboard; answers were expected verbally. The structure wasn't great; one interviewer asked about state updates right after I had explained it to the other one.

The interview process was great from start to finish, with the recruiter being a huge part of that. They contacted me within 48 hours of applying, giving me tons of info about the company culture, work environment, and the project. Their communication was always on time and clear, and they really helped me get ready for each part. The process involved a first chat with the recruiter, a HackerRank test, a technical interview, and a meeting with the hiring manager. They gave me good advice for every step so I knew what to expect and felt ready. The whole team was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, making things easy and fun. Even though I didn't get the job, the recruiter was super professional and caring. They didn't leave me hanging like some do, but instead gave me really useful feedback on how I did and where I could improve for next time. Their feedback was delivered nicely and was genuinely helpful for my job search. It felt like they really wanted me to succeed, and I won't forget their efforts.
