Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Huntington Bank.
Analyst
It was a smooth process. First, an HR screen with typical screening questions. Then, an interview with the team manager/leader. Finally, an interview with another director/manager. Each interview was short, under 30 minutes. The questions mostly focused on the job description and my experience. Everyone I met was friendly.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in this particular position and in Huntington?
- How does your past experience align with the requirements of this role?
Analyst
It was a pretty simple process. HR reached out for a phone chat. After that, I had a Zoom meeting with the hiring manager. I didn't end up getting an offer, but the HR person mentioned the hiring manager thought I'd be a good fit for another department that matched my background better.
- Given a theoretical situation, how would you demonstrate your financial understanding?
- What motivated you to apply for this position?
Analyst
I had a phone screen with HR first and then a phone interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager asked me to send over work samples, which I did by email. After waiting a week and following up to confirm they got them, I didn't hear back. I reached out to HR again about a month later (because of the holidays) and still no response. So, I logged into the online HR system to check the status and saw that the job was declined. It's a good thing I checked, or I would have just kept waiting. My advice to the company is to rethink your HR policy on interview communication. It felt very unprofessional to just leave candidates hanging and ignore them.
- Can you share an instance where you performed an analysis?
