The hiring manager reached out directly for a series of video interviews with him and the team. The chat with the hiring manager went well, but the rest of the team was a bit of a letdown. Three people joined the call, but only one had his camera on. This is super common these days with video calls and it’s really awkward and unprofessional for the candidate. The person with the camera on was clearly texting coworkers during the interview. Some things they said made me think they already had someone in mind for the role. Hopefully, because I wouldn't have taken the job anyway.

I applied on Humana's website and after about 5 weeks, a recruiter called and asked if I could do a phone interview right then. It was unexpected, but I said yes. The interview was a bit disorganized, but the recruiter was nice and said she liked me and would recommend me for an in-person interview. She also said I'd need to do a writing sample analyzing a piece of legislation. She mentioned 97 people applied and 7 got phone interviews. Two weeks later, I got a call to set up an in-person interview with the hiring manager, and I was told there were 4 candidates total. A week after that, they scheduled me for a third interview with the Director, the hiring manager, and another lobbyist. When I got there, I found out I'd also be interviewing with the administrative assistants, who were the toughest, but it was cool how they valued their input, showing they value everyone.

I applied online and after about a week, HR called me for a phone interview where we recorded answers to questions. It was pretty straightforward, with time to think before recording. The questions were mostly behavioral and basic screening like work eligibility and salary expectations. After that, I had an on-site interview with the hiring manager and the team. They asked questions mainly about my resume and why I'd be a good fit, and also about the job description. I haven't heard back in weeks, so I'm assuming that's it. Overall, it was a good experience because HR was prompt and the interviewers were really nice.
