First, I had a chat with a recruiter to go over my background and make sure I was a good fit for the role. Then, I chatted with a lead manager from the team in a casual conversation. The last part was a portfolio review where I showed 2-3 case studies and then answered some questions about them. It was a pretty fast process compared to other places. I didn't get an offer, but they sent a nice email saying they were looking for someone more senior and that I should apply again, even mentioning some work they liked. It seemed like a real email, not just a generic rejection.
- Can you present 2-3 of your case studies?

So I started with a referral and the recruiter reached out really quickly. The recruiter was great, super responsive. We had a quick call where they just checked I understood the role, had the right qualifications, and knew a bit about Hulu. A week later, the recruiter set up a Zoom call with the hiring manager. It was an hour long and they really wanted to dig into how I approach problems, hear about my past work, and see if I’d fit with the company culture, which they emphasized is important – like being collaborative and open to feedback. A few days after that, I went in person for the on-site. This was a full day. I had four 1:1 or 2:1 interviews with the hiring manager and some future teammates. We also had lunch, and I gave a 1-hour presentation of two portfolio projects to about five designers. Everyone seemed genuinely interested and asked good follow-up questions. They also shared info about their own roles, which made me feel comfortable. They offered me the job about two weeks after the on-site.

Got a call from HR first. Then had a video interview. After that, I went onsite for an interview with several reviewers. The whole process was professional and everyone was nice. I didn't get the offer in the end, which is okay. I did ask for feedback on why, since I invested a lot of time, but never heard back.
- Can you walk me through your design process?
